How Amazon calculates FBA fees in 2026
- Size tier from the dimensions of the packaged product (sorted longest to shortest) and its weight.
- Shipping weight: unit weight for small standard, otherwise the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight (L × W × H / 139).
- Fulfillment fee from Amazon's table for that tier and weight, in one of three price bands: under $10, $10 to $50, over $50. Apparel and dangerous goods have their own tables, peak season has higher rates.
- 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on the fulfillment fee since April 17, 2026.
- Referral fee as a percentage of the sales price, depending on the category, with a minimum fee.
- Storage per cubic foot and month, higher from October to December.
Size tiers 2026
| Size tier | Max. weight | Max. dimensions | Length + girth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small standard | 16 oz | 15 × 12 × 0.75 in | n/a |
| Large standard | 20 lb | 18 × 14 × 8 in | n/a |
| Small bulky | 50 lb | 37 × 28 × 20 in | 130 in |
| Large bulky | 50 lb | 59 × 33 × 33 in | 130 in |
| Extra-large | over 50 lb, or larger | no limit | no limit |
Since January 15, 2026 the former large bulky tier is split into small bulky and large bulky. Bulky items without SIPP certified packaging pay a packaging fee, extra-large items with a longest side over 96 in or length plus girth over 130 in pay an overmax surcharge.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Amazon FBA cost per item in 2026?
It depends on size, weight and price. A small standard item up to 4 oz priced between $10 and $50 costs $3.42 to fulfill before the 3.5% surcharge, a 3.35 lb large standard item about $7.13. On top come the referral fee, usually 15% of the price, and monthly storage.
What is the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge?
Since April 17, 2026 Amazon adds 3.5% to US FBA fulfillment fees. It is calculated on the fulfillment fee, not on the selling price, and Amazon has not given an end date. The calculator includes it.
When is the FBA peak season in 2026?
Peak season fulfillment fees apply from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, based on the day the order ships. Storage fees are higher from October to December.
How is dimensional weight calculated?
Length times width times height in inches, divided by 139. For bulky and extra-large items width and height count as at least 2 inches. Amazon charges the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, except for small standard items.
How much is the Amazon referral fee?
Usually 15% of the total sales price, with a $0.30 minimum. Some categories are lower, such as consumer electronics and computers at 8%, others are tiered by price, such as clothing, beauty and baby products.
Does the calculator include the inbound placement fee?
No. It depends on how you split your shipment and on the destination, from $0 with Amazon-optimized splits to a range per unit. The low-inventory-level fee, aged inventory surcharges, returns and advertising are not included either.
Are my numbers stored?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
