Frequently asked questions
What size should Amazon product images be?
At least 500 and at most 10,000 pixels on the longest side. From 1,000 pixels customers can zoom, so Amazon recommends at least 1,000 pixels. Amazon gives no file size limit for product images.
Does the Amazon main image have to be square?
No. Amazon doesn't require an aspect ratio. Square images are common because they show largest in search and the gallery.
What background is allowed for the main image?
Pure white, RGB 255, 255, 255 or #FFFFFF. A background at 250 or 253 looks white but isn't pure for Amazon. The checker above measures the edge of the image pixel by pixel.
What is the 85% rule?
The product should fill 85% of the main image. Amazon doesn't say how it measures that. The checker measures the frame around the product on its longer side.
Which file formats does Amazon accept?
JPEG, PNG, TIFF and non-animated GIF. Amazon recommends JPEG. BMP, PDF, PSD, EPS, WebP and HEIC are not accepted.
Can the main image have text?
No. Text, logos, graphics and watermarks on the main image are a reason for suppression. Infographics are common on additional images; banned there are Amazon logos, star ratings and shipping promises, among others.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser.
